Located in the area of the current Prestbury Subdivision in Sugar Grove, Illinois.

Around 1836, this spot was settled on by Silas Reynolds, grandfather of Ira Judd. The brick in this house represents the house built in 1847 and remodeled into this house in 1893. A log house was the first house.

The oak staircase in the Ira Judd House was crafted by The Foster Munger Co. in Chicago and cost $79.50 at the time. A description of the sales brochure is transcribed below.

This flight of stairs complete as per plan shown (admitting slight alterations like changes in length of first or second run, location of platform, etc.), including Main Newel, Angle and Landing Newels, Balusters, Steps, Risers, Strings, Nosings (except rough carriages) and Railing complete, allowing 8 feet of Rail and Balusters around well hole on second floor (NO PANEL WORK included, except as shown on panel curb string). In Oak or woods of equal value.

For quarter-sawed Oak add 25 per cent. For Yellow Pine deduct 5 per cent. Price subject to Discount.
