Marcus Burrowes along with Frank Eurich were architects for the first phase of building and was responisble for the majority of the school design. Construction was carried out by the "W. E. Wood Company. The "Arts and Crafts" style was primarly used and gave the buldings a very ornate look to them. Buldings he was involved with were the Powerhouse, the first Laundry Building, Admintration Building, Hopsital, Auditorium, Kitchen Services, Boys and Girls Industial, Staff Residences and the origional 16 cottages. The remaining buildings built after were mainly designed by Aaron and Nataniel Gould and had a spanish revival look to them. Growing up in Old Redford in the 1970's I was surrounded by other desiogns by Burrowes. The Redford City Hall, Redford Public Library and the Entrance for the Grand Lawn Cemetery. Unknown to me also was that I grew up near where the other Architects, The Goulds lived as well.
