The Laundry Building was located east of the Powerhouse in the far northeastern section of the grounds. This was actually the second building that was used for laundry. The 1926 Sanborn map shows that the Carpenter Shop was the first laundry building. This building was built during the second major phase of construction after the school opened in 1926. A two story design, both floors had an open floor plan. It was built on a hill on higher ground than most of the of the buildings. The summers working in there must have been sweltering. Large commercial washers and dryers were located in the lower floors. A large clothes chute existed between the two floors. One piece of equipment that was stored there was a Half Track vehicle. I saw it many times but never photographed it.
